Computing Resources at UiB

Under the coming Physics Colloquium we shall have guests from IT-department who will introduce us to some of the very topical developments and services in the field of scientific computing.
They will introduce concepts as High Performance Computing (HPC), Cloud Computing and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). They will also present the local computing resources and compare them with the coming so called cloud resources, the Norwegian UH-cloud (i.e. UH-sky). One of the concepts is also the Advanced user support (AUS).
They plan to speak about HPC current status, future plans and the OpenStack based cloud services at UiB. The aim is to give us an update about the current situation of High Performance Computing in Norway (and at UiB).
They also hope to hear what might be the requirements or expectations from our side.
