Hovedinnhold

Aurelien Delaval successfully defended his thesis "The population structure of roundnose grenadier (Coryphaenoides rupestris) in southern Norway" on the 29th May 2017. Aurelien studied if the C. rupestris from four Norwegian fjords and the Skagerrak could be regarded as one unit, or if they were sub-populations. He concludes that his samples were from sub-populations, and found them to be highly isolated genetically with high inbreeding coefficients, high homozygosity, and low genetic diversity. His data also suggest that the structuring was influenced by geographic distance and bathymetric barriers.

The external examiner was Torild Johansen from the Institute of Marine Research, and the BIO examiner was Sigrunn Eliassen.

The thesis has been supervised by Anne Gro Vea Salvanes from EvoFish and Geir DahleHalvor Knutsen, and Jennifer Devine from the Institute of Marine Research.
