New article in JAMA Neurology

Bettina Riedel is an associated member of the Bergen Epilepsy Research Group and has co-authored this study due to her expertise within folate metabolism. The study shows that children exposed in utero to antiepileptic drugs had a higher risk for autistic traits when the mothers did not use periconceptional folic acid supplements, and that the degree of autistic traits was inversely associated with maternal plasma folate concentrations and folic acid doses.
