Hidden costs of implementing afforestation as a climate mitigation strategy: A comprehensive assessment of direct and indirect impacts

HiddenCosts will evaluate the overall costs and benefits of afforestation in open landscapes by analyzing the direct and indirect impacts such schemes, thereby gaining overall understandings of climatic, ecological, and societal impacts of afforestation and the two alternative scenarios, continued management and natural succession.

HiddenCosts uses the Norwegian Citizen Panel to collect data from survey experiments on people's views on forest and landscapes.

The project is led by Hanna Lee, at NORCE and Department of Biological Sciences. Endre Tvinnereim, NORCE and Department of Administration and Organisation, UiB, is a DIGSSCORE affiliate and part of the project team.
