EuroMAB 2022 in Nockberge Biosphere park, Austria
Members of the UNESCO Chair team and representatives from Nordhordland Biosphere Reserve recently participated in the EuroMAB 2022 conference - "Tying cultures. Crossboarder cooperation between societies and generations."

EuroMAB is an international UNESCO Man and the Biosphere conference, and this year it was hosted by Biosphärenpark Nockberge in southern Austria, near the boarders to Slovenia and Italy. The conference was dedicated to widening awerness of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (BR) ethos, and strengthening cross-boarder cultural ties. Over many centuries, this geographical location has facilitated a flourishing cultural exchange between the regions. Within the framework provided by the "Senza Confini" (Without Boarders) European Region established in 2012, Carinthia, Friuli Venetia Giulia and Veneto are cooperating as regions, with a mission to create equal living conditions in the boarderlands, as a basis for European integration. In light of centuries-long cross-boarder cultural ties, and very close collaboration with the Slovenian Biosphere Reserve Škocjanske jame and the Italian Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve, the Nockberge region provided a good setting for a EuroMAB 2022 meeting.
