Project title: Nature and origin of the Tuscan basement and its cover sequence on Elba Island: evidence from detrital zircon dating

The focus of my master project is the cover of the Tuscan basement on Elba Island, Italy. This is done by studying detrital zircons from different sedimentary units covering the basement. In addition to this, I will study xenoliths recovered from post-collisional Apennine granitoids in order to characterize the poorly exposed basement. The results will be compared with a project on the mainland of Tuscany, carried out by Henrik Stokke.
