Hovedinnhold

Her year in Bergen is now over. Suneetha Gunawickrama says that she feels really satisfied with her stay as a guest at Department of Biology, UiB. She says that it has been a productive year and she has particularly enjoyed the new BIO facilities.

Suneetha has spent a sabbatical year here at the University of Bergen (UiB).  She comes from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka and is a guest of the EvoFish research group at BIO. She has previously spent time at UiB doing her Masters (1996) and PhD (2000).

EvoFish introduces their guest.

Suneetha returned to UiB because of the research network she established during her student years, especially with Prof. Anne Gro Vea Salvanes. Since 2003 she has been one of the research collaborators on a research project involving the African bearded goby, Sufflogobius bibarbatus where she works, in particular, with population genetic structure.

Suneetha says it has been nice to have been able to concentrate on research and paper writing for a year. She praises the new BIO facilities saying that they provide good infrastructure for a productive working environment. Already, together with her collaborators here, she has had one paper accepted for publication from this year’s work.
