Hovedinnhold
Currently on her sabbatical leave from University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, where she is an Associate Professor in Zoology, Suneetha has been involved in collaborative research with Anne Gro Vea Salvanes since 2003, mainly on population genetic studies of the bearded goby from Benguelan upwelling system. Currently she is working on developing microsatellite markers for the bearded goby, so that a fine-scale population genetic structure can be revealed for this ecologically important species in future studies. This work also involves Dr. Torild Johansen's lab in Tromsø. As an important step to continue research collaboration with UiB, she recently took an initiative to sign a MOU between BIO and Department of Zoology, University of Ruhuna. Suneetha is visiting UiB 10 years after finishing her PhD at the then Department of Fisheries and Marine Biology (IFM) in December 2000 with Gunnar Nævdal and Anne Gro Vea Salvanes as the advisors.
