Successfull climate summerschool in Vesterålen

Associate professor at the Department of Earth Science and Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, Kerim H Nisancioglu, chaired a successfull ACDC2013 summerschool.

Hovedinnhold

Advanced Climate Dynamics Courses (ACDC) are yearly summer schools organized by the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Dynamics at the University of Bergen in collaboration with the University of Washington and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This year's course was held at Nyksund, Vesterålen in August.

The focus was the understanding of the basic principles and dynamics of the last deglaciation as observed in paleoclimate archives (marine, terrestrial and ice cores).

Topics included were:

  • atmospheric dynamics and impact of changing ice topography
  • ocean dynamics and impact of melting ice sheets
  • models of the deglaciation and importance of radiative forcing
  • paleoceanography and proxies of deglacial ocean climate and circulation
  • terrestrial paleoclimate and archives of deglacial climate change
  • ice cores and proxies of deglacial climate
