Education activities

In order to strenghten geoscience education at Norweigan universities, members of the CASE Consortia will work on:

  • Implementing real CASE based operational learning in applied geophysics at Norwegian universities
  • Developing CASEs and courses to be used for learning at the universities and in member companies
  • Promoting common curriculum in applied geophysics at Norwegian geoscience universities
  • Establishing a geophysical and geological databse to be used for education and research

GeoCLASS

One of the key elements involved in these actitives is to continuously develop the e-learning system GeoCLASS.  GeoCLASS is a web-based e-learning system, managed by UniGEO, featuring several modules on various geological and geophysical topics relevant for petroleum geoscience. The e-learning modules vary in scope from purely theoretical geology/geophysics modules to CASE based studies. The latter may, for instance, include systematic descriptions/outlines of work flows for tasks such as seismic processing, seismic interpretation or AVO analysis of real data.

In 2015-2016 the consortia aims to complete nine additional modules covering topics such as, but not limited to, seismic interpretation and seismic on frozen ice.
