Andrea Saltelli er en italiensk forsker som har arbeidet innen fagområder som fysisk kjemi, miljøvitenskap, anvendt statistikk, konsekvensutredning og vitenskap for politikkutvikling.

Hans hovedfokus ligger på sensitivitetsanalyse av modellutdata; et fagfelt der statistiske verktøy brukes til å tolke resultatene fra matematiske eller datagenererte modeller, og såkalt "sensitivity auditing", en utvidelse av sensitivitetsanalyse som omfatter hele prosessen med å samle inn dokumentasjon til bruk i politikkutvikling.

Andrea har tidligere arbeidet ved Europakommisjonen der han ledet en enhet for økonometri og anvendt statistikk fra 2005 til 2015. Fra november 2016 til juni 2020 var han forsker ved Senter for vitenskapsteori (SVT) ved Universitetet i Bergen (UIB). Han er for tiden gjesteforsker ved SVT og Institutt for kognitiv vitenskap og teknologi ved Det italienske forskningsrådet (CNR), og akademisk veileder ved UPF Barcelona School of Management.

Hans mest nylige forskningsarbeider har tatt for seg sensitivitetsanalyse og "sensitivity auditing", vitenskapens reproduksjonskrise, konsekvensutredning, kvantifiseringsetikk, regulatorisk fangst (regulatory capture), rangeringer i høyere utdanning, vitenskapens integritet og post-sannhetsdiskusjonen. Sommeren 2023 ble boken "The Politics of Modelling, Numbers Between Science and Policy” publisert av Oxford University Press, der han bidro som redaktør og forfatter.

Andrea underviser i sensitivitetsanalyse, "sensitivity auditing", vitenskapens integritet og kvantifiseringsetikk.
