Smerter i ansikt og kjeve

Professor på Institutt for Klinisk Odontologi (IKO) og Overtannlege på Avd for Kjevekirurgi, Haukelands Universitetsykehus (HUS). Jobber med orofacial smerte inklusive kjeveleddspatologi. Byggt opp et TMJ team med kjeveleddskirurger ved HUS. Medverkade til at bygge opp det multidisciplinära Nasjonale TMD projektet i Bergen sammen med Smerteklinikken på HUS som 2018 overgikk til at bli en Nasjonal behandlingstjeneste for uavklarte smerter i ansikt og kjeve ved HUS.

Driver en interdisciplinär smertegrupp på Institutt for Klinisk odontontologi (IKO) på UiB för patienter med orofaciala smerter. Leder for en forskningsgrupp på IKO som driver med forskning kring orofacial smerte der flere forskningsstudenter og masterstudenter bidrar til resultatene. https://www.uib.no/fg/samfklinisk/133232/smerter-i-ansikt-og-kjeve

 

Medvirker i en multisenterstudie med St Olav Universitetsykehus i Trondheim, inkluderer pasienter med ansiktssmerter (peripheral idiopatic facial pain, PIFP) som får botoxinjeksjoner i Spenopalatinaganglion for å dempe smertene.

Ingår i NorJIA gruppen med flere PhD studenter, en multidisciplinær multisenterstudie om leddgikt hos barn og ungdomer med påvirkning i kjeveledd. 

Ingår i Tissue enginering group ved IKO med flere PhD kandidater, basalforskning med stamcellsregenerasjon av kjevebein og TMJ brosk.

 

Har tidigare varit verksam som Universitetslektor/Övertandläkare och chef på Käkkirugiska avdelningen vid Karolinska Institutet/ Karolinska Universitetssykehuset, Huddinge, Sverige. Var medlem i den Multidisciplinära smärtgruppen på sjukhuset och i den Odontologiska smärtgruppen på den Odontologiska institutionen (2000-2012). Fick sin doktorsgrad på Farmakologiska Institutionen, avhandlingen handlade om neuropeptidernas roll i det endogena smärthämmande systemet vid akut smärta och stress (1994). Docentur (2007) och specialistutbildning inom käkkirurgi vid Karolinska Institutet (2005).
