Min forskning er hovedsakelig innen fagområdet arbeidsmedisin. Siden nittitallet har jeg arbeidet med store prosjekter i lav-inntektsland, og prioriterer denne type forskning.

Metodologisk arbeider jeg med epidemiologi, samt er involvert i studier som kombinerer epidemiologi med eksponeringsstudier.

Hovedtema som jeg er opptatt av er studier av eksponering for støv og luftveisplager på arbeidsplassen i lavinntektsland, samt studier av pesticider og helse.

Viktige partnere for meg er Addis Ababa University i Etiopia og Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences i Tanzania.

Videre arbeider jeg med arbeidstidsordninger/skiftarbeid, støy og er interessert i "trafficing". Jeg er også involvert i prosjekter som bygger kompetanse innen kirurgi i Malawi og Etiopia.
