Hovedforskningsområder
Mine forskningsinteresser har vært delt mellom obstruktive lungesykdommer, cystisk fibrose og covid-19.
KOLS
Min doktoravhandling fra 2018 utforsket tidal ekspiratorisk flowbegrensning hos pasienter med stabil KOLS, påvist ikke-invasivt ved hjelp av impulsoscillometri i Bergen KOLS/ECLIPSE studien. Vi presenterte også normalverdier for IOS parametre ved inspirasjon og ekspirasjon for eldre. Senere prosjekter innen KOLS har undersøkt bruken av et digitalt klinisk beslutningsstøtteverktøy i kolsbehandlingen. For øyeblikket samarbeider vi med Helse i Hardanger i et prosjekt som undersøker om et tre-dagers omfattende tverrfaglig rehabiliteringsprogram med digital oppfølging kan føre til varige atferdsendringer hos KOLS-pasienter som fører til økt fysisk aktivitet.
Astma
I min kliniske stilling på Haukeland Universitetssykehus har vi opprettet et register for pasienter med alvorlig astma som får biologisk behandling. Vi samarbeider med det internasjonale astmaregisteret (ISAR). Jeg er norsk delegat i Nordic Severe Asthma Network (NSAN) og med i styringskomiteen for NORDSTAR-forskningsprosjektet. Flere publikasjoner har kommet fra register-samarbeidet, NSAN og NORDSTAR-prosjektet.
Cystisk fibrose
Jeg har vært co-investigator i Vertex, VX20-121-103-studien om CFTR-modulatorbehandling. Dette vekket forskningsinteressen for denne pasientgruppen ved min avdeling. Vi har for øyeblikket 2 masterprosjekter, innen ernæring og innen fysioterapi hos pasienter med cystisk fibrose, der vi sammenligner situasjonen før og etter at de ble satt på CFTR-modulatorbehandling.
Post-covid-fatigue
Etter SARS-CoV-2-pandemien har et stort antall pasienter langvarige ettervirkninger med tretthet som en av de mest rapporterte symptomene. Dette påvirker funksjonsnivå, livskvalitet og arbeidsevne. Vi samarbeider med Helse i Hardanger om et prosjekt som undersøker effekten av et tre-dagers omfattende tverrfaglig rehabiliteringsprogram hos pasienter med langvarig post covid-19-tretthet.
