Dr. Maria is a full-time researcher at the University of Bergen in collaboration with Prof. Iain Johnston funded by the ERC through EvoConBiO. After her doctorate at the University of Oslo, she did her research at The Francis Crick Institute in London and later worked as core facility leader at the Research Institute in London focusing on the implementation of informatic tools and programming, in the United Kingdom. Before that, she did her research at the University of Oslo and had academic positions in between. In her last position, she worked in an academic position at Northern Virginia Community College at the Faculty of Health and Sciences, Virginia, United States.

Her journey in informatics began with a passion for exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Driven by curiosity, she focused on the tracks of these fields, increasing her skills and staying up to date with the latest developments. Her commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements has made her interested in the application of informatics tools.

Dr. Maria's authorship of books and blogs has been instrumental in sharing insights, best practices, and innovative approaches with the global community. These publications have not only showcased her depth of knowledge but have also inspired and educated countless professionals in the informatics domain.
