Group Leader, Space Plasma Physics Group, University of Bergen, Norway. My primary research focus is understanding the fundamental plasma-process known as magnetic reconnection. Specifically my work is centered around understanding the (small scale) kinetic physics of magnetic reconnection and how this process couples (large) macroscopic scales. By means of analytical theory and fluid- and particle-based simulation I research under which conditions this process can operate, and how it ceases to operate.
