The members of the research group do research on a wide range of legal issues in civil procedure, dispute resolution in general and the boundaries between civil procedure and other fields. Our competence is particularly strong with regard to evidence law, the European civil procedure, including EEA/EU civil procedure law and the ELI/UNIDROIT European Model Rules of Civil Procedure, mediation and other forms of non-adjudicative dispute resolution, and children's access to justice.

Leaders of the research group are Camilla Bernt and Anna Nylund.

Anna Nylund has recently published the book Shaping Civil Litigation Using Procedural Agreements on Eleven Publishing in collaboration with Antonio Cabral (Rio de Janeiro State University).

Comparative seminar on orality in civil proceedings

On December 2. esteemed researchers from across Europe met – both physically and digitally – with the Research Group for Civil Procedure and Dispute Resolution for a comparative discussion on elements of orality in different European legal systems.

The first Workshop of the Primary Dispute Resolution Project

31 August and 1 September the Research group for civil procedure and dispute resolution organised their first workshop in the Primary Dispute Resolution (Tvisteløsning på grunnplanet) project, funded by The Norwegian Research Council.

On the 15th to 16th February 2024, professors Anna Nylund, Magne Strandberg and Camilla Bernt traveled to Leiden University to participate in a seminar organized by Professor Bart Krans.

Visiting scholar programme 2023 - 2027

As part of the project "Primary Dispute Resolution", which is coordinated by the research group, researchers are welcome to apply for financial support to visit the University of Bergen on a short-term research stay. The programme is open for researchers at all career stages. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact project manager Anna.Nylund@uib.no, and attach a CV and a description of their research interests.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie - Postdoctoral Fellowships

The research group welcome researchers interested in applying for a MSCA PF. The action lie under the Excellent Science pillar of Horizon Europe, and the goal is to enhance the potential of researchers holding a PhD degree who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training and international mobility. The research group can offer extensive academic and administrative support for candidates applying for a fellowship at the UiB. Please contact Anna.Nylund@uib.no for more information.
