Keynote Speaker:

This year´s keynote speaker is Øyvind Halskau

Topic: Strategies in science and in academic survival

About Øyvind Halskau:

Øyvind Halskau has his background in biophysics with an emphasis on structural biology and membrane biochemistry. He was mentored by Prof. Aurora Martinez, Biorecognition, at The Department of Biomedicine, UiB, where he received his PhD (2005) on the conformational flexibility of -Lactalbumin and its link to membrane interaction. He continued his work as a post. doc. on the scaffolding protein 14-3-3 and its membrane interactions at the same department and later as a researcher affiliated with the University of Life Sciences, Ås. This latter work focused on the lipid-binding protein honey bee Vitellogenin. He has done guest research at the National Institute of Health, USA, and the University of Granada in Spain. In 2010 he received the Bergen Medical Research Foundation’s Recruitment grant, but opted instead to accept the position as associate professor at the Department of Molecular Biology. His research focuses on protein-membrane interactions.

Hope to see you there.
