09.00: Commercialisation from the scientist’s view. Pernille Winding Gojcovic will give a general introduction to IPR(Intellectual Property Rights), inventions and patenting processes.Pernille is partner and patent lawyer at Høiberg A/S, Copenhagen. With a background as assistant professor in molecular biology at the University of Copenhagen, Pernille is an expert in life science patenting and works with universities, hospitals, private and public biotech
companies.
10.00: Research or commercialisation, does it have to be
either/or? Berit Bjørnhaug will give an introduction into how Bergen
Technology Transfer Office (BTO) handles inventions made by
researchers employed at BTO owner institutions and partners.
Berit is legal advisor and IPR manager at BTO
11.00: Commercialisation at UiB – a case study
Presentation of BerGenBIO, case study from Department of
Biomedicine. Jim Lorens, professor and research director, has his background
from PhD studies at the University of Bergen in the early 90’s and
later from the biotech industry in California. He is one of the
founders of BerGenBio.
