Globalisation at the Crossroads
Around 450 researchers, students, practitioners and policy-makers from nearly 70 countries made their way to Bergen for the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) 2017 conference.

European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) general conferences are held every 3rd year. This year, a joint partnership between EADI, Norwegian Association of Development Research (NFU), the University of Bergen (UiB) and the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) created the Bergen Nordic conference 2017. Global Challenges (previously UiB Global) at UiB is a EADI member and was responsible for many of the hosting responsibilities, including the team of volunteers.
Impressions from the conference
With over 70 panels in up to 21 parallel sessions, plenary sessions, meetings, and social events, the conference was an action-packed few days. Watch the plenary sessions again (links to the right).
Rector Dag Rune Olsen opened the conference at the University Aula. Bergen City hosted a welcome reception for the conference delegates in the over 700-year old Håkon’s Hall. Bergen’s notorious weather cooperated, and delegates were treated to full sunshine for the excursion up Fløyen, one of the city’s surrounding mountains, where they were also feted with traditional Hardanger fiddle music.
