Databehandling for analytiske rådata

I instrumentelle analyser som kromatografi eller kromatografi koblet til massespektrometri blir algoritmer for identifikasjon og kvantifisering av forbindelser vanligvis anvendt direkte på rådata. Men mye kan gjøres for å bedre kvaliteten på analytiske data før identifikasjon og kvantifisering. Utvikling og anvendelse av metodikk for støyreduksjon, oppløsning av overlappende signaler og standardisering av spektra er viktige forskningsaktiviteter innen dette feltet.

Identifikasjon av forbindelser basert på multivariat metodikk

I mange tilfeller vil en statistisk behandling av spektra gi mer informasjon om molekylstruktur enn klassisk visuell tolkning av spektrene. I kromatografiske analyser vil statistisk analyse av retensjonstider og retensjonsindekser også kunne bidra betydelig til sikrere identifikasjoner. Forskningsaktiviteter innen dette feltet inkluderer tolkning av massespektra ved hjelp av multivariat klassifisering og regresjon, modellering av retensjonsindekser og bruk av kombinert informasjon fra spektre og kromatografisk retensjon for identifikasjon av molekyler.

Optimalisering og validering av analytiske metoder

Forskningsaktiviteter i dette området inkluderer bruk av responsflatemetodikk for optimalisering av kromatografisk oppløsning, systematisk behandling av kromatografiske retensjonsdata, og studier av ekstraksjonsmetoders effektivitet.

Analytiske anvendelser

Metodikken beskrevet over blir anvendt innen analyse av lipider, organiske miljøgifter og flyktige forbindelser. Anvendte teknikker er gasskromatografi (GC), væskekromatografi (LC), massespektrometri (MS) og koblede teknikker som GC-MS og LC-MS.

Masteroppgaver

Masteroppgaver tilbys innen analytisk kjemi og kjemometri eller innen miljøkjemi.

Innen analytisk kjemi vil oppgavene normalt være knyttet til analyse av lipider med gasskromatografi, væskekromatografi eller massespektrometri. Karakterisering av lipider er av stor betydning innen felter som medisin, ernæring og miljøstudier. Behandling av data med kjemometriske metoder vil være essensielt i de fleste oppgavene.

Oppgaver i miljøkjemi vil normalt være knyttet til analyse av forekomst, effekter eller egenskaper til organiske miljøgifter ved hjelp av kromatografiske og massespektrometriske metoder. Det er vanlig at oppgavene utføres i samarbeid med andre forskningsmiljøer i Bergen.
