Hovedinnhold

On Thursday, September 9, 2019, the National Science Week (Forskningsdagene) hosted a debate at the public library on what we talk about when we talk about the weather in Bergen. The debate was entitled "Apocalypse soon - or do the worries rain away?" ("Apokalypse snart - eller regner bekymringene vekk?").

It was an interesting discussion with scientists from different disciplines, Kjersti Fløttum (LINGCLIM and HUMKLIM), Erik Kolstad (NORCE), and Kyrre Kverndokk (HUMKLIM), as well as the Director of water and sewerage Magnar Sekse (Bergen municipality).

In conversation with Anne Jortveit (Norwegian Climate Foundation), they discussed questions such as: What will the weather in Bergen be like in the years to come? How have the seasons changed over time? What will the weather be like in the future and what measures will the municipality have to take to fight climate change? How are weather and extreme weather used in the climate debate? Does it matter how we talk about the future?

Thank you to Marit Ruge Bjærke (HUMKLIM) for organising the event.
