Morten Brun: Topological Data Analysis

Abstact:

I will try to explain the aims of the dCod project on toxicology of Atlantic cod and how we plan to apply methods from topology to facilitate analysis of gene expression data. dCod is a transdisciplinary project with participation of biologists, bioinformatics and mathematics. Even the mathematics part of the project is interdisciplinary in the sense that it brings together researchers in statics, partial differential equations and topology.

In the talk I will outline the mapper algorithm and demonstrate it on simple examples.
