ENZYMES FROM THERMOPHILES

Visiting PhD student from Thailand

Ms Apinya Singkhala has a Royal Golden Jubilee PhD scholarship awarded by the Thai Research Fund for a 10 month reseach visit to BIO. She will work on thermophilic bacteria and hydrolytic enzymes from hot springs in Thailand.

Hovedinnhold

Ms Apinya is a PhD student at the Department of Biology, Thaksin University in Thailand, where she is supervised by Dr. Sompong O-Thong. There is a large number of terrestrial geothermal environments in Thailand with a large diversity of heat-adapted bacteria and novel robust enzymes of industrial potential. Hydrolytic enzymes for deconstruction of polymeric waste materials and production of biofuel is the main objectives of her PhD project.
