Student scholarship - Øystein Holmelid

My student scholarship project aims to set up a Morris water maze in the BSSG lab and further investigate the effects of the simulated night shift model on cognitive performance. Previous findings from the lab have shown that protein synthesis of BMAL1, S6K1 and Arc is reduced specifically in the prefrontal cortex of such rats. By further exposing them to a prefrontal cortex dependent reversal learning procedure in the water maze, it will give insights into whether there is a behavioral correspondence with these mechanistic findings.
