A remarkably polyphyletic genus

This article from 2015 shows the flowering plant genus Sibbaldia to be a polyphyletic assemblage of unrelated species.

A combination of two sets of DNA sequence data was used to analyse the relationships of the species that have been classified as Sibbaldia. It turned out to be composed of five separate, not closely related, groups that previously had been joined mainly because they had small flowers with few stamens.
