The panel discussion, hosted by the Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies and co-organised by the Ready Initiative, Johns Hopkins Centre for Humanitarian Health, and the Health in Humanitarian Crises Centre at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, was a follow-up to the BMJ Global Health paper on "120 essential health interventions to protect during the pandemic" published in October 2020.

Together with representatives from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Médecins Sans Frontières International, BCEPS researcher Kjell Arne Johansson discussed the options of which health services could be halted or postponed in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion focussed particularly on the element of urgency in the provision of health services in humanitarian settings as well as considerations of cost-effectiveness in the process of priority setting.
