Research

Viruses do not always cause disease, in fact there are many possible outcomes from a viral infection, including evolution and driving key ecological processes. CONFECT supports two research projects which study virus-host interactions and their effects on evolution and ecology within the oceans.

Hovedinnhold

In CONFECT, we strengthen research collaboration, education and public outreach in the field of virus ecology and evolution. The project is strongly tied to two ongoing research projects funded by the Trond Mohn Research Foundation (SIMPLEX) and the Research Council of Norway (VirVar).

Our PhD and Posdoc in VirVar develop skills in bioinformatics through a course in transcriptome analysis at UiO, analysing data produced within the VirVar project. During this stay, we also had meetings with scientists at UiO to support our collaboration within this specific research field.
