Democracy is about arrangements for governing the collective. Our research projects are on what set of values for such governing arrangements are established in Norway and have found their way in to the Norwegian political institutions. In these processes, the development of the public sphere and of the role as a citizen is central. The mutual development over time of a public sphere, the role of the civil citizens, and the value- and power base for the political institutions is fundamental to understanding the emergence and nature of democratic governance arrangements. When it comes to the political parties, they will be important because they over time have been virtually exclusive when it comes to the right to represent the citizens within the public governance. On this basis, we work especially with the following projects at the moment:
