Hovedinnhold

Following her PhD at the Julius Wolff Institute of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Ines Kutzner is now joining the Biomaterial laboratory at the Laboratory building at Haukeland University Hospital for a 9 month period. Her affiliation is with Department of Clinical Medicine.

In her PhD she investigated the loading of the knee joint as measured by instrumented implants. The work has produced unique data on loading patterns of implants in real life.  Some of the data, along with illustrative videos, are freely available on the webpage.

From August onwards she will analyse implants retrieved during revision surgery in order to identify possible underlying mechanisms that lead to early loosening of knee prostheses. The prostheses are included in the Retrieval Databank, along with clinical information. The work creates links between basic biomechanics and clinical behaviour of knee implants. The work is now published in Acta Orthopaedica:

Kutzner I, Hallan G, Høl PJ, Furnes O, Gøthesen O, Figved W, Ellison P. Early aseptic loosening of a mobile-bearing total knee replacement. Acta Orthop. 2017 Nov 06:1-7. Doi: 10.1080/17453674.2017.1398012

The funding is through the Yggdrasil mobility program 2013-2014.
