From the hard sciences to law, the humanities and social sciences – here is how researchers and students at the University of Bergen work to solve the climate challenges.

This December politicians and researchers from all over the world will gather in Paris to discuss and agree to new solutions to the climate crisis. Naturally, many researchers from the University of Bergen will be in attendance.
Climate and energy transition is one of three areas of research that are given special priority at the universiy. Today this research is increasingly carried out on all UiB faculties, from the humanities and social sciences to law and hard science.
Climate research at the university can be traced back to the start of the 20th century, when Vilhelm Bjerknes founded the Bergen School of Meteorology and made meteorology an exact science.
