Using GC funding for planning inter-Faculty research
The UiB strategy area for Global Challenges has allocated funds to promote scientific interfaculty cooperation in 2018.

One of the first groups to receive funding from Global Challenges at UiB held a 3-day workshop to develop plans for an application to H2020, Implementation Research for Maternal and Child Health. Led by Astrid Blystad, Karen Marie Moland and Andrea Melberg from UiB’s Medical Faculty, the group is cross-disciplinary and inter-Faculty: researchers from 3 UiB Faculties are involved as well as researchers from University of Sussex, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Addis Ababa University, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, and University of Zambia.
Bente Moen, the Director of the strategic area, invites UiB researchers to learn more about this funding opportunity. Time is running out to apply for the funding for this year (2018). She adds that she does not know if it will be possible to offer such funding next year. Researchers from at least 2 UiB Faculties must be involved in the project.
The aim of the funds:
To stimulate interfaculty cooperation in topics relating to Global Challenges in research or education.
Allocation criteria:
- The topic must be a global challenge in migration, health or inequality.
- At least two Faculties must participate in the work.
- The funded activity must be carried out in 2018.
- Funds can be allocated to meetings, seminars or travels that promote interfaculty educational initiatives or development of applications for research projects.
- From NOK 10 000 up to NOK 100 000 can be allocated per application.
