About SDG Norway - Research and Higher Education

After the inaugural SDG Conference Bergen in February 2018, the leading universities in Norway established the National Committee for the 2030 Agenda in the university sector.

The committee is led by Vice-Rector for Climate & the Environment and Cross-Disciplinarity at the University of Oslo (UiO)

The other members of the National Committee are: the University of Bergen (UiB), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), the Arctic University of Norway (UiT), the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), Universities Norway (UHR) and the National Union of Students in Norway (NSO). Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Local Government and Modernization and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) partake as observers in the committee.

The committee was established by initiative of the University of Bergen in 2018 after the first national SDG Conference Bergen, and was a a bottom-up initiative from the universities involved in the first conference. The aim of the committee is to strengthen the universities' role as a relevant player in the global debate on the societal challenges that Agenda 2030 focuses on, both nationally and internationally.
