"We are very pleased that UiB was approved as EERA ExCo member", says dr. Kristin Guldbrandsen Frøysa.

She is the energy director at UiB and she represents UiB in ExCo.

During the 11th General Assembly, The european energy research alliance (EERA) elected the new Executive Committee for the period 2021-2024. Jointly with EERA Secretary General, the body will be responsible for leading the execution of EERA’s strategic approach towards carbon neutrality.

Technological development is a key enabler, but reaching climate neutrality is calling for actions reaching far beyond technology.

Bergen Offshore Wind Centre is a good example of an inter-disciplinary approach to meet the needs for a sustainable development of offshore wind.

We see that bringing together researchers and PhD-students from the Law Faculty and from natural science and technology gives a holistic approach that is needed to meet the current challenges.

Energy transition is a committed research area at UiB, and there is a great interest among students and scientists in topics like offshore wind energy, hydrogen and ammonia, geothermal energy, bioenergy, solar PV, hydro power, sustainable finance and EU taxonomy, national and international energy law and just transition.

"We look forward to help catalysing European energy research for a climate-neutral society by 2050 and we look forward to take part in shaping the European energy future", says dr. Guldbrandsen Frøysa.
