The 2nd East African Teacher Education Symposium was held at Makerere University, Wednesday, November 9 through Friday, November 11, 2022. The symposium was addressing topics of relevance for East African Teacher Education under the symposium theme "The pandemic´s effect on Ugandan and East African education". The topics of interest included, but were not limited to:
- Closing of schools on different levels
- The pandemic and our approaches to teaching
- Teacher-student ratio in schools
- The role of blended learning before, during, and after the pandemic
- Education and empowerment
- The CABUTE areas of subject specialization: English, General Education, Mathematics, Music Education, and University Pedagogy.
EATES 2022 Prof. Hebert's Keynote Presentation
The East African Teacher Education Symposium (EATES) is an annual international symposium for educational research related to teacher education.
The symposium addresses the situation in and development of teacher education in Uganda, but also seeks to include a regional perspective on teacher education within The East African Community (The Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republics of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the United Republic of Tanzania).
The symposium aims to present high-quality research with relevance for teacher education in Uganda and the East African region, and to be an international platform for developing new research on and collaboration in teacher education.
