Inna Sokolova

Dr. Sokolova's research focuses on the ecological physiology and toxicology of marine benthic organisms. Her work in ecological bioenergetics examines the role of energy metabolism in establishing tolerance limits to stressors such as climate change, ocean acidification, hypoxia, and pollution. She explores the connections between molecular and cellular stress responses, energy homeostasis, and overall organism fitness. Her goal is to develop mechanistic models predicting the responses of marine biota to multiple stressors and to create biomarkers for environmental risk assessment that combine sensitivity to stress with ecological relevance.Dr. Sokolova serves as editor-in-chief for the Journal of Sea Research (since 2014) and Marine Environmental Research (2011-2024). She also handles editorial duties for Marine Ecology Progress Series and Nature Scientific Reports and contributes to numerous other editorial boards. Dr. Sokolova has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
