The role of GPs in sickness certification

This sub-project is a cooperation between researchers from The University of Bergen and Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm and includes: (i) An updated literature review on the role of physicians, especially GPs, in sickness absence and sickness certification. (ii) Results from recently conducted focus group discussions with GPs will be used in the design of a survey of Norwegian GPs and samples from other specialities, in order to investigate attitudes, competence and experiences related to sickness certification (iii) Register based studies of sickness certification practices among Norwegian GPs and sickness absence among their patients.
