About Nora Wiium

Nora Wiium is a professor of developmental psychology at the Department of Psychosocial Science, Faculty of Psychology, University of Bergen, Norway. Her job mainly entails teaching and research on health behaviours and development in youth and emerging adults. Through her doctorate, post-doctorate and professorship, she has collaborated with colleagues from different fields and published articles with different perspectives including developmental psychology, social psychology and health promotion. She has served as a reviewer or co-editor for several journal articles and has helped to provide supervision for bacholer and master students as well as PhD candidates.

Wiium completed her PhD in Health Promotion in 2005 and pursued a Postdoctoral project between 2006 and 2009 at the Research Centre for Health Promotion (HEMIL-senteret), University of Bergen. She began her university education at the University of Ghana with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social psychology.  During the year 2000, she had the opportunity to pursue her education at the University of Bergen, where she took a one-year master’s programme in health promotion and moved on to do the PhD in the same field of study. 

As the principal investigator for The Cross-National Project on Positive Youth Development (CN-PYD), Wiium initiated the project in 2014 that currently involves partner researchers from over 40 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the US and Latin America, representing expertise in wide ranging yet connected scientific fields of human development, intervention, and implementation science.
