Jeg er interessert i diversitet, systematikk og økologi av nestledyr (Cnidaria: Medusozoa) og ribbemaneter (Ctenophora). I senere tid har mitt arbeid fokusert på integrativ morfologisk og molekylær taksonomi av disse grupper, inklusiv referansebibliotek av DNA-strekkoder. Min forskning dekker også deskriptive studier på faunistikk og forekomster av maneter i rom og tid basert på bade fysisk prøvetaking og optiske metoder, samt forsøk rundt manetenes økologiske og trofiske roller i pelagialen.
Jeg er medlem av ICES arbeidsgrupper Integrated Morphological and Molecular Taxonomy (WGIMT) og Zooplankton Ecology (WGZE), SCOR working group #157 og UN Ocean Decade Action No. 102.2 MetaZooGene og The Hydrozoan Society.
