Hovedinnhold

Are you interested in mass cytometry and want to run the Helios (CyTOF)?

The Helios (CyTOF) was funded through a grant from Bergen Forsknings Stiftelse (BFS) and is a gift to the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital. The Helios is located on 5th floor of the Laboratory Building at UiB. Access and management of this platform is through the Flow Cytometry Core Facility (https://www.uib.no/en/clin2/flow#) where you can find information on running costs and much more.

An antibody reagent repository has been purchased and aliquotes of antibodies can be purchased though the booking system. Meaning that core facility will provide/sell panels to researches and groups that would like to test and use mass cytometry. This will allow researches and groups to more easily test mass cytometry on their own samples. This will give then better understanding of what they can do and they can get their hands on some data on their specific samples.

! Accounts: Principal investigator account with billing infromation and user account

Before you are able to book the Helios the principal investigator (PI) needs to have an account in the booking system. If your PI has an account with the flow cytometry core facility you need to make a user account connected to your PI and the billing account for your project following instructions from your PI.  When both, user account (you the user) and PI billing account (responsible person for you) have an account you the user will be able to book the Helios. The user has to be tied to a PI, and be connected to a billing account!

Any problems regarding access and payment please contact our core manager Brith Bergum at brith.bergum@uib.no

! Expert users

You will not be able to run the Helios on your own without extensive training in Bergen or abroad. For groups at UiB and HUS where mass cytometry will be central in projects for years to come it will be possible to train one dedicated person to run the Helios. This expert user will then be responsible for all the activities on the Helios in their respective groups, pay for broken parts within reason and will have some core facility duty.

For more information about mass cytometry please send an email to Jørn at Jorn.Skavland@uib.no or Brith at brith.bergum@uib.no
