CytofXT & Helios
Main content
Are you interested in mass cytometry and want to run the Helios (CyTOF)?
The Helios (CyTOF) was funded through a grant from Bergen Forsknings Stiftelse (BFS) and is a gift to the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital. The Helios is located on 5th floor of the Laboratory Building at UiB. Access and management of this platform is through the Flow Cytometry Core Facility (https://www.uib.no/en/clin2/flow#) where you can find information on running costs and much more.
An antibody reagent repository has been purchased and aliquotes of antibodies can be purchased though the booking system. Meaning that core facility will provide/sell panels to researches and groups that would like to test and use mass cytometry. This will allow researches and groups to more easily test mass cytometry on their own samples. This will give then better understanding of what they can do and they can get their hands on some data on their specific samples.
List of Helios Suspension Antibodies (100 NOK/ul, minimum amount 4ul), metal labeling kits, paladium and cisplatin available.
List of antibodies and metal conjugation kits in the pdf on the bottom of the page.
! Service operation
Jørn Skavland and Brith Bergum can be contacted to run samples on the Helios as a service. The price for this service is 1100 NOK/hours. If you want to book this service do the following:
- Send an email to Jørn Skavland <Jorn.Skavland@uib.no> and Brith brith.bergum@uib.no stating when you want to run your samples on the Helios; at least 7 days ahead of schedule!
- You will get an email from the person who will assist you on the Helios and will work out the details with you personally. Please contact us at least 7 days ahead.
- Book your hours on the Helios based on the feedback from technical assistance.
! Expert users
You will not be able to run the Helios on your own without extensive training in Bergen or abroad. For groups at UiB and HUS where mass cytometry will be central in projects for years to come it will be possible to train one dedicated person to run the Helios. This expert user will then be responsible for all the activities on the Helios in their respective groups, pay for broken parts within reason and will have some core facility duty.
For more information about mass cytometry please send an email to Jørn at Jorn.Skavland@uib.no or Brith at brith.bergum@uib.no
