Erasmus+ staff mobility for training
All employees at the University of Bergen are eligible to apply for a grant for exchange visits to an organisation, company , or university/college in Europe through Erasmus+.
Hovedinnhold
The training activities should involve active participation. The aim is to facilitate knowledge transfer, share best practices, acquire practical skills, and gain new ideas for teaching and learning - which can subsequently be shared internally at the home institution. A broader objective is to strengthen the institution´s internationalisation strategy.
Erasmus+ staff mobility enables UiB employees to maintain contact with colleagues and institutions in EU countries, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
Training Activities within Staff Mobility
Conferences and other events dedicated solely to a specific academic discipline do not qualify as training activities. Scientific conferences, symposia, or academic/scientific courses are not approved activities.
Examples of eligible activities (non-exhaustive list):
- Job shadowing
- Observation
- Workshops
- Seminars and conferences with active participation
- Staff training weeks
Examples of Erasmus+ staff mobility:
- Training at a company or university for laboratory work, language courses, or internships.
- Many universities offer Staff Training Weeks. IMOTION provides information on some of these, or you may contact the institution directly for details.
Agreements
UiB does not maintain a portfolio of agreements for staff exchange. Employees must organise their own exchange visit and training programme with a company, organisation, or university.
Staff mobility may be carried out at one of UiB´s partner universities or an organisation/institution offering relevant training. Travel to educational institutions without an existing agreement with UiB requires a well-founded justification to be eligible for funding.
Applications for staff mobility to universities within the CHARM-EU alliance, will be prioritised.
Formal Requirements
The stay must last a minimum of two days excluding travel, and a maximum of two months. Uib generally does not provide funding for more than one working week (5 days), even if the stay is longer.
The employee must submit an application, which must be approved by their immediate supervisor before submission. This ensures the supervisor is informed of the trave plans and any potential costs beyond what the Erasmus+ grant covers.
Applications must be submitted in Elements, from the department/faculty to the Division of Student and Academic Affairs. For the academic year 2025/26, applications should be submitted under case number 2025/7514.
The application may consist of the Mobility Agreement (see further down the page), completed and signed by the employee, the sending institution, and the host institution. This agreement must include the main objectives and expected outcomes of the stay, as well as a programme for the mobility period, and must be in place before the exchange begins.
- Due to high demand, funding will not be granted to applicants who received and Erasmus+ grant in autumn 2023 or later.
- Group applications are no longer accepted - this is and individual grant.
- No more than two individuals may receive funding for the same activity.
Application Deadlines
There are two annual application deadlines at the University of Bergen: September 15th and 1st of February.
Applications are only processed at these times, so it is important to apply before the deadline.
