Tema: Confidence Likelihood and Probability
Professor Tore Schweder fra Department of Economics, University of Oslo
Abstract:
Fiducial distributions were proposed by R.A. Fisher (1930) to stop "150 years of fog and confusion" over the then prevailing inverse probability method of statistical inference based on Bayes' lemma. The fiducial argument came into disrespect since Fisher made false claims. I will briefly review the fiducial debate. Confidence distributions are J.Neyman's frequentistic interpretation of fiducial distributions, and will be presented. They will be compared to Bayesian Posterior probability distributions.
