On behalf of the journal International Journal of Public Administration, Jonas Lund-Tønnesen has been awarded The 2026 Emerging Scholar’s Award.

Lund-Tønnesen himself said the following about receiving the award: “I think it is incredibly exciting, and it is a great honor to receive such an award. Recognition as an academic does not come very often, so it is truly rewarding to see that the research I do is appreciated and that others see the potential in the work I do research on and publish. This recognition motivates me to continue advancing research within the field and in the journal.”

Lund-Tønnesen conducts research on the digitalization of the public sector, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, digital surveillance, and digital transformation in organizations. He is especially interested in how digital technology changes the organization of the state and the relationship between the state and its citizens.

The Emerging Scholar’s Award is presented to early-career researchers who demonstrate exceptional potential in the field of public administration and policy research. To be nominated, candidates must show a strong research agenda with significant contributions to the field. The award recognizes research that offers new perspectives and innovative approaches, while also supporting the emergence of the next generation of scholars. The award acknowledges the research Lund-Tønnesen has carried out so far and at the same time highlights the great potential of his future work. He was nominated by Per Lægreid and Tom Christensen.

Congratulations, Jonas!
