The department holds internationally recognized scientific collections of more than two million specimens of animals, fungi, plants and minerals, as well as living collections at the University Gardens. Our staff performs leading research in the fields of biodiversity, systematics, evolution, palaeozoology, palaeoecology and geology, with associated collection activities. We also teach courses given at other institutes at the university and the Research School in Biosystematics (ForBio).
