ABSTRACT

The objective of this PhD project is to study determinants of a trial of labour and trial of labour failure after caesarean section as well as pregnancy outcome in a population based cohort design, based on data from the Medical Birth Registry of Norway. Medical risk factors, socioeconomic factors, demographic factors and organizational factors are explored.

A validation of data and algorithms used to define the study outcomes is included, in which hospital record data on 500 randomly selected deliveries after a previous caesarean section are validated against Medical Birth Registry of Norway records. The project was initiated in March 2013 and completion is planned for 2017.
