The Museum Project
The monumental museum building will stand out as the University of Bergen’s foremost institutional symbol and will provide an important meeting place for culture, science communication and representation purposes, for the university and for the city. The renovation highlights the antiquarian qualities and historical importance of the museum building and emphasizes the unique role that the museum plays in Bergen, Western Norway and the entire country, whilst at the same time acting as a bridge between new knowledge and the activities of a modern museum.

Ready in time for the Constitution bicentennial
The Ministry of Education and Research has asked Statsbygg to have the South Wing of the Bergen Museum completed by 2014. "This will be the main celebration of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution in Bergen", says Rector Sigmund Grønmo.
