Rune Nilsen is Director of Centre for international health (CIH), University of Bergen and Professor in International Health since 1988. Previous Deputy Rector of University of Bergen, Head of the NUFU programme boards, and long experience in international higher learning, research policy and governance. Particular experience in doctoral training policies and Open Access publication policies. Main academic background in immunology and pathology of tuberculosis and tobacco and cancer.
