Shutting off cancer cell survival mechanisms in response to chemotherapy

The mechanisms of cancer cell drug resistance is still not fully understood.

Apoptotic leukemia cell (upper panel) is rescued from dying when protein translation is activated (lower panel).

In the prestigious journal ‘Blood’ we now report how leukemia cells initiate survival mechanisms through protein translation regulation in response to chemotherapy. This knowledge may provide new strategies for improving cancer treatment.
