Research groups and networks
The research groups are the department's primary professional forums, and the composition of them is therefore academically motivated. The groups organize research seminars, student seminars, guest lectures and other activities within their thematic fields.
Main content
The groups meet regularly according to individual needs.
The research groups function as academic catalysts for research projects, applications for external funding, development of the disciplines and as academic discussion forums. At the same time, the research groups are a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration in the gray area between the three disciplines the department is built around: social sciences, humanities and technology development.
The department has nine research groups:
- Bergen Media Use Research Group
- DARS research group
- Group for journalism studies
- Group for culture, inequality and democracy
- Human-computer interaction group (HCI)
- Intelligent information systems group (I2S)
- Research group for emerging media
- Research group for logics and AI
- Research group for rhetorics, democracy and public culture
